Measuring for Inside Mount

• For an inside mount, start by measuring the width of the window opening at the top, middle and bottom. For mini blinds use the narrowest measurement for the best fit. For vertical blinds use the width at the top of the window only.

o Round down to the nearest fourth of an inch. The actual size of the blind will be half-inch narrower to allow for inside mounting.

• Next, measure the height of the window opening at the left, middle and right of the inside of the window frame. For mini blinds use the longest measurement. For vertical blinds use the shortest measurement to prevent dragging of the blind.

For your measurements follow the width by height format (W x H).

Measuring for Outside Mount

• For an outside mount this will be measured a bit differently. First, measure the width of the window opening at the top, middle, and bottom from outside edge to outside edge. Record the widest measurement of the surface that you would like to cover.

  • King industries recommends adding at least one inch on each side for mini blinds, for more privacy and light blockage. For vertical blinds add two inches to each side. Round measurements up to the nearest fourth of an inch. This will be the actual finished width of the blind.

• Then, measure the height of the window opening at the left, middle, and right. Record the longest measurement; this will be the height to order.

• If you are mounting above a window frame, you will need to add two to four inches to the height.

For your measurements follow the width by height format (W x H).
